The Road Less Traveled

I was just reading an article on the Internet that talked about downsizing your financial goal and why it is such a good idea.  It is not a good idea to me.  It is not in my nature to be beaten before I even get started or in the middle of the race.  If I except defeat, I am defeated.  Our minds believe what we tell it.  The power of autosuggestion is a powerful tool.  It can either bring you down or put you on top of the world.

This article caught my attention because if anything, my financial goals grow larger everyday, not smaller.  I have four kids to provide for.  I can’t simply let the mortgage company know that I changed my financial goals today and therefore  only going to send half of my payment this month and for the rest of the length of my loan.  The grocery stores are always having a sale of buy a cart of groceries get a cart free- aren’t they?    I am sure this is true for most of us.  Rising food costs, rising fuel costs- winter is right around the corner, and gasoline is still over two dollars a gallon.  This isn’t even mentioning college tuition that continues to rise every year. My biggest fear after reading the article is that people will listen to it and except defeat.   As things look to be doom and gloom for the financial future of many of us, there are just as many who are making more money than ever before in their lives.

What path are you choosing to take?  One path is crowded and full of people.  People who have changed their financial goals to be less than what they were before. People who have accepted things just aren’t going to get better and who can’t be positive and complain all the time.  Their glass is always half empty.  It is the easy pathand the path that leads to nowhere.  OR… Are you ready a path that is a lot less taken but is going somewhere?

The other path is much less crowded.  Everyone on this path has a definite life purpose and they are working towards it.  Everyday those on this path take actions towards their life purpose.  All of their actions, all of their thoughts, everything that they do is to achieve their life’s purpose.  This is the path I choose to be on.  A path where I am in control of my life.
